SSB Testing Procedure

Hai ,Happy New Year to all of you.
My hearty wishes for Prosperous, Healthy, Meaningful, Successful and ever happiest days .

I was talking about the efforts taken by me to pass through one of the milestones ,I had set in my life, that is to serve in Indian Armed Forces.Now I want to share with you what I learned while achieving it. As you know the entry in to the Armed Forces as an Officer is restricted with a unique testing procedure by a board of officers called Service Selection Board (SSB).We have to clear various tests conducted by SSB. Before that we have to qualify in the Intelligence/screening test to appear in all the tests conducted by this board. These test are mainly grouped as Phychological,Group Testing Officer's(GTO),Interview and concluded with Board Conference. Psychological Tests include
Self Description.
Group Testing Officer's(GTO):
Group Obstacle Race(GOR),
Half Group Task(HGT) ,

Personal Interview and Board Conference. I will be discussing these tests one by one.

what are the medical tests.
And what does they check.
What are the Do's & Don's.

Who ever clear the Interview are asked to appear for Medical Examination.Medical board will check the physical and medical fitness.In physical they check for height ,weight,chest expansion and for physical disabilities,In medical ENT and various diseases by checking blood,urine,etc..,blood pressure,ECG etc....I have no clear idea for what all diseases they check.But if its a curable disease they may give a chance to reappear for medical after 3 or six months.Even for little bit overweight/under weight people ,they may consider,if they feel that the candidate can improve the current status.

Ravi,
they may consider you,may be with a warning to reduce in a time frame, try your best to reduce ,and what ever may be the status at the time of interview ,be positive and optimistic.

Hello sir,
I am Vijay. I have given the CDS examination this February and waiting for the result. The main problem is that I have a poor eyesight, I suffer from knock knees and I also have back pain. Can I know what are my chances of selection in the army? Should I go for ssb if I am selected? Or should I do something to correct these problems within me?

Capt Pradeepkumar K. Padmanabhan said...

Getting a chance to go through SSB itself is an experience in life.Don't too much bother about your shortcomings,face it in interview and get an answer. I am not in a position to answer your all doubts,as i am not in touch with the latest medical selection rules in SSB and not a qualified doctor.Let us hope that some officer knows these rules well, post answer for you people while reading this blog.
